Winning Virgin Lust by Destiny Blaine blurb and excerpt

Out of all the Winning Virgin books, this is by far my favorite. Sebastian is perfect from his head to his toes. He has that don't f*** attitude going on. *sigh* Don't be shy, leave a comment ot ask a question for Destniy.

The Winning Virgin titles have been well received by readers of paranormal and urban fantasy erotic romance. The gaming elements in the books have pulled in another crowd of ready readers as well—gamblers.

Destiny has a strong foothold in the casino industry with hundreds of articles written under another pen name, her reader base for the Winning Virgin titles originally pulled from this audience. Fortunately, paranormal readers fell in love with the series as well and made it a hit.

Recently, two more books were sold on proposal for the Winning Virgin series and others are planned as well. Two of the titles, Winning Virgin Blood and Winning Virgin Love are now available in print formats.

Winning Virgin Blood, the first book in the series is the only book that is not ménage. Since Winning Virgin Love and Winning Virgin Lust received an overwhelming response, the next two books will continue to showcase romance and ménage relationships. Watch for Winning Virgin Promises and Winning Virgin Devotion coming soon to Siren’s Ménage Amour Collection.

Blurb from Winning Virgin Lust:

It's the morning after a sexual romp and Constance Spenser wakes up with more than a headache. Since she doesn't seem to know who she is or where she belongs, Sebastian Sabbat buys into the old adage of finders keepers and that's just his first mistake.
The Sabbats and the Spensers aren't friends and when two of their own join for unconventional purposes, the families aren't exactly pleased. Add in a little brotherly love and a threesome guarantees Constance will soon be tied to more than just one Sabbat. Gabriel Sabbat will join his brother and Constance in a very accepted vampire ceremony, but when Darian Sabbat realizes Constance has her hooks in Sebastian and Gabriel, he makes a quick decision.
Darian knows he can't trust his brothers now that Constance wants their undivided attention. In a bold move, he takes the initiative to secure the future of his family and he has a little insurance to ensure the Spensers never get in his way.

Excerpt from Winning Virgin Lust:

She woke up in heat. She needed him and she didn’t know who the he represented. She wanted someone with an unexplainable why. She just missed the man and wanted to see him. He had been in her bed or rather, she spent some time in his and now she heard sounds from another room, but she didn’t know if she wanted to go and meet him face to face.
Her first instincts kicked in. She’d dress and run. Get the hell out of there. Run like hell—only she didn’t know where she wanted to run. She looked around the room, but nothing looked familiar to her. She had no earthly idea where she’d spent the night or how she ended up there.
She licked her lips and tasted the unfamiliar salty flavor, a bitter-sweet flavor. The sheets were tangled and the evidence of a sex party existed throughout the room. Did she like it rough? She looked around again. Apparently so, with the weird gadgets everywhere. An obvious sex swing in one corner, a pole with ties and binds in another led to leather, lots of leather, draped around several pieces of furniture.
With deliberate caution, she stepped onto the hardwood floor and the dreaded creak announced to the person in the next room of her awakened state. She heard heavy footsteps and turned to see him in the doorway. Immediately, she hit the bed again and covered herself up.
“Baby, I’ve already seen that gorgeous ass of yours.” He chuckled and then turned his back to her. “I’m not much of a cook, but when you’re up and at it, I have breakfast ready. I usually eat dinner first, but I took a chance you might want breakfast.”
“Dinner first?” She questioned him without realizing it.
He turned back around and propped his hands on the doorframe showcasing perfect arms and glorious muscles. “Yes, what do Spensers typically do for their first meal of the day?” His eyes teased her further.
“Spensers?” She questioned him more.
“Yes, Miss Spenser, in case it slipped your mind last night, I do know you belong to the Spenser clan.” He shook his head. “I’ll let you get dressed. How do you take your coffee?”
“Do I drink coffee?” She called out to him and noticed when his footsteps stopped moving away from her. Somewhat hurriedly, he headed back to the room where he’d left her.
He slowly peered in on her this time. “Constance, knock it off.”
“Constance? This is my name?” A blank expression washed over her. “That’s my name, right?”
“Do you know where you are?” He approached her with what she viewed as forced restraint.
She shook her head. An emphatic “no” told him more than her head shaking.
He moved closer. “This isn’t a real good time for games.”
She looked around the room. “By the looks of things, we played enough of those last night.”
He moved closer to her and they studied one another for a few minutes more. “What do you mean? You really don’t know where you are?”
“No.” She pulled the blankets around her tighter.

* * * *
Tears threatened her and he saw them well at the corners of her dark brown eyes. Her little body seemed to shake from underneath the sheets and coverlet hiding her.
Damn it all. After Walt woke him earlier, he’d spoken to one of the elders and guaranteed her safety. Now, she couldn’t remember him or as it appeared—anything?
“Constance, if this is a game, I can tell you now, it’s going to backfire on you.” He went to her purse and pulled out her wallet. “See, here’s your passport.” He wondered why in the hell she had a passport, but maybe it would jar her memory. Someone did a phenomenal job painting her into the place a photographer’s lens would’ve never captured. The photo looked legit.
“What’s a damn passport mean to me?” She questioned. “Am I not in Edinburgh?” She glanced over to the window. Fortunately, in the far distance, she would be able to spot The Edinburgh Castle.
He nodded toward her identification. “Your name, it’s right here. Constance Spenser.” He rubbed his chin in deep thought. “If you don’t know your name, how do you know you belong in Edinburgh?”
The tears came fast then and she swiped them as quickly as they did. “I have no idea. I just know I live here.”
“Damn it all!” He thought it first and said it loudly just to be sure she knew he wasn’t a bit amused. “Constance, listen to me. Your name is Constance Spenser. You’re a member of the Spenser clan. One of the most notorious vampire families in—”
“Vampires? What the hell? You think I’m part of some vampire clan? And you slept with me? Are you always this insane or do you have a sudden death wish?”
Both, no doubt. Before he seriously screwed up and did some damage, he caught the words he wanted to speak right in his chest. His cheeks swelled and he slowly blew out hot air. Why make matters worse?
First things first. He didn’t really need to tell her in that precise moment that he too happened to be a vampire. It wasn’t necessary. No, he’d wait before he shared the information, but maybe he should shed light on the sleeping-with-him factor. “We didn’t fuck.”
“Nice.” She really didn’t seem to care one way or the other.
He realized how it sounded and tried to regroup again. “Well, I mean, I would have if—”
“What’s your name?” She cut him off.
“Sebastian.”
“Are we lovers or…”
A thousand answers would’ve been better than the one he was going to give her, but sometimes the way someone can make their dreams come true is to simply start by believing they are true. He decided the night before he wanted her and now, it appeared he might just get his chance. Sure, more conventional ways might have made things less complicated, but Constance didn’t quite fit the bill or make a strong case for uncomplicated.
“Yes, honey, we are.” He lied. Damn right, he lied. Damnation and hell fire, he made it up as he went along because he wanted to keep her. His hand went to her head and he stroked in the beauty he saw every time he looked at her. And yes, he made excuses for himself.
She smiled at him warmly. “Then looks like I didn’t do too badly for myself whoever the hell I am.”
“I guess I feel the same way. We’re damn lucky, if you ask me.” He winked casually and then reluctantly slid a kiss on her cheek. “Get dressed. We’ll eat breakfast and then I have somewhere I want to take you.”
He almost slipped away from her with all the answers she needed when a question hit her. “I still don’t know where I am or…”
“Dress Constance, and then we’ll work this all out.” His voice shook. Could he work this out? He sure as hell hoped so.
* * * *
The Sabbat compound impressed her. “This is your family home?” She looked around with bright eyes when they entered the foyer.
The estate, designed by one of the greatest architects to ever live, impressed most mortals. Many of their own didn’t find the appointments all that spectacular because so often the vampires, at least those from the older families, lived in similar settings. Constance’s own home made even the Sabbat estate appear somewhat average. Of course, now she claimed no recollection of the past.
“You’ve been here before.”
“I have?” Her eyes darted around the open areas once more.
Darian Sabbat sat alone in the center of the family room when they entered. His face showed true surprise, if not shock. “What the hell?” He tossed aside a book he held in his right hand.
Sebastian raised his fingers to his lips. “We need to talk.”
Empty eyes looked around the room. “Constance, I’d like you to meet my brother, Darian.” He shot his sibling a warning stare before the concern washing over his face slapped him again with several doses of confirmation. Yes, a Spenser walked, strolled really, into their compound.
“Darian Sabbat, meet Constance Spenser.”
“Yes, I believe we’ve met before.” He brought her knuckles to his lips.
“We have?” Her eyes returned to Sebastian for a yes or no answer.
Sebastian intervened. “It’s been years ago. Darian knew your family.” He offered a gentle smile.
“He did?” She looked back at Darian once more. “Tell me about them.”
“Yes, he will, but why don’t you go out by the pool and wait for us there. I have to discuss some business proposals with him first.” With his hand on the small of her back, he walked her over to the terrace doors and all but pushed her toward them, ever so gently, of course.
“Okay.” She seemed too affable for Sebastian’s comfort, but he smiled sweetly until she disappeared behind the patio doors.
“What the fuck is going on here?” Darian challenged his brother as soon as the glass rattled with the closure of the doors. “What the hell were you thinking bringing her out here in the middle of the night?”
“She doesn’t know who she is.” He walked past his brother.
“What are you talking about?” Darian seemed more pleased with the declaration than simply bothered by it.
“You heard me. She doesn’t have a clue who she is or how she ended up in my bed.”
“Fucked her past life straight out of her memory, did ya?” Darian immediately seemed to like the idea all the more. “Keep talking little brother because you just won over my undivided attention, never mind my envy.”
“That would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic!” Sebastian walked over to the wet bar and poured himself a scotch. He gulped it down and quickly poured another.
“So, did you get the best of her?” His jaw twitched with the anticipation of a positive affirmation. “Of course you did, look at her.” He turned to stare at their guest.
Sebastian ran his nervous hand over his face and stared at his brother once more. “No, I didn’t, so you cannot pin this on me. She thinks she belongs with me. Your drugs must’ve had some kind of adverse reaction on a vampire.”
“Really?” He seemed far too delighted and very interested. “Tell me more.”
“Do you have any idea what we’re facing here or do you even care?” Sebastian knew his brother loved games, but there were more appropriate people—mainly mortals— to use for pawns.
“We’re not facing anything. Drop her off at the Spenser gates and leave her. They’ll know what to do with her. She’s theirs. They’ll find her help of some sort.” Darian joined him at the bar and slapped him on the back. “In the meantime, let’s raise our glasses. Evidently, there’s a lot we can toast.”
“The last time the lovely Miss Spenser visited here, she quite confidently assured me she would never return.” He chuckled. “I wish I would’ve known then what I know now.”
Sebastian’s eyes followed her every move through the glass. He watched her walk around the pool utterly amazed. “I can’t take her back. She doesn’t want to go.” He ignored his brother’s attempt to make light of their situation.
Darian almost spat his words and his first sip of alcohol straight forward. “She doesn’t want to go home?”
“No.”
Darian studied him before he spoke again. He watched him stare at the beautiful young woman. “You like her and want to keep her. That’s the problem, eh?”
There was little reason to respond. He just watched her graceful moves and damn it all, he wanted her and yes—he planned to keep her. Hell yes, he wanted to keep her, but she wasn’t a prize to be won or lost and he tried to grasp an understanding of the fact. It proved challenging when his eyes refused to leave her curves.
Darian snapped his fingers in front of his brother’s face. “Then keep her, but get her the hell out of here. They’ll search for her, if they aren’t already out on a mission to find her and guess where they’ll look first?”
Sebastian squared off with his older brother. “Well, I don’t imagine they would be looking here if they didn’t have a pretty damn good reason to begin at the source.”
Darian rolled his eyes.
Constance slid back inside and shut the door behind her. They heard the swoosh sound of the sliding door and both looked up at the same time. Her face held a lot of anxiety. She swallowed hard before she stared directly at Sebastian. “I missed you.”
Darian turned beet red fighting the laughter he wanted to share. Never mind the obvious delight he found when he heard her chosen words. “She missed you. How touching. Those very words are sentiments I’d cherish if I were you. I’d also find a way to work this to your advantage and of course, become very aware of a real possibility. She may walk in one day with her memory fully restored. Then what?”
Sebastian didn’t bother telling him about the bold face lie he told the young woman just because his emotions for her allowed his better judgment to take a very corrupt turn. He didn’t bother telling his brother he loved finding her in his bed and it seemed too painful to even think about returning her to the Spensers.
He did want to keep her. Just like he’d always wanted to keep the little stray animals they brought in from the street. He wanted to keep the seductive hellcat who warmed his bed and his heart after just one night of distorted and yes, maybe even a little manipulated pleasure.
* * * *
Hours later, Darian escaped down to the underground quarters of a made-to-order prison underneath the Sabbat compound. The news he wanted to share fresh on his lips, only one man warranted his company. He walked into the dimly lit holding area.
“My brother gained the interest and approval of a particular Spenser.”
The shadow in the cage didn’t move or react. Not in the least.
Darian paced the concrete floor and he watched his prey closely. “Did you hear what I said?” He stopped at one of the four corners.
Nothing. Not a sound. Not a movement. Only blackness stilled the anger from pure rage felt and yes, the fury seethed from the man caged. The animosity danced, but it never showed its face.
“I met her today. She’s quite beautiful really. She has ivory skin—pale white. Her long eyelashes nearly curl up to hit her lids and they both cover the darkest of black eyes that I’ve ever seen. In fact, if my brother didn’t already have her marked for his own, then I suppose I wouldn’t be opposed to taking a much younger woman to my bed. After all,” He chuckled knowing his final descriptive terms would urge hell from the man behind his bars, “seeing the black-haired vixen’s hair fall gently around perfectly mounted breasts is enough to call out the betrayal of a brother.”
A hissing sound fell into the room. It sounded like a rattlesnake and the sound opened up the walls of horror. The hellish temperament of a father came to life as the man trapped there forced all of his weight against the metal knowing when he did, he would be speared with more of the painful drug Darian’s significantly sword-pointed bars speared into his veins.
The contact generated a rumble of terror. Darian even backed away since the close-up show of agony seemed unbearable even for the man who orchestrated the whole enactment. The bars did shake, which surprised Darian and the guards. He shot a disapproving glare at one of them. “See that this never happens again.” He nodded toward the bar he saw give with the structure and move with anger’s beastly face.
When the man on the other side calmed down some, he went in for a final kill. After all, he liked to taunt his prey as much as possible. “As I said, she’s quite lovely. My brother left our club with her last night and when they reappeared today at the compound, I must say, they both possessed a certain spark in their eyes, never mind the spring in my young brother’s step. Must’ve been her first time.” Darian chuckled as he listened for more outrage.
It didn’t come. But the warning did.
“Orlando and Almonzo would never stand for it. I don’t believe you.” The syllables were painful to hear because they floated from a very dry tongue.
Darian walked closer so the prisoner could read his expression. “That’s why I took the opportunity to study everything about her. I thought you might be unable to grasp the concept unless my description of her hit something of a personal note. She wore a necklace. A lovely gold choker with a charm embedded completely with gorgeous diamonds.”
Silence. Nothing stirred.
“An elegant piece really. Where did she get it? I’m assuming you had it made for her or perhaps her brothers gave it to her or maybe even one of their scrumptious bed partners.”
Again, no response.
Darian moved closer. “She is, after all, such a lucky player.”
Again the man from the other side rumbled with his anger and the spears were ready for him when he did. The pain of the injections broke the flesh, but the words spoken speared his heart. “Constance.”

Destiny Blaine will be my guest today

Destiny Blaine will be blogging here today. She will share some excerpts from her Winning Virgin series and also her newest release, Turnkey Lovers. I was able to review two of her Winning Virgin books when I was still with Dark Angel Reviews and she will post those later today too. She also gave me the opportunity to review Turnkey Lovers and that review will be posted later also.

To start off the day right, let me give you an excerpt and blurb from Turnkey Lovers.

Blurb:

Paisley is a business woman living in a world her father created. She’s tough, controlled, and lonely. At twenty-one, she’s permitted to enter the grounds her father created when he developed The Colonies of Our Galaxy and she hires a male escort to take her there. Her purpose is to not only see the company holdings for the first time but to finally experience the kind of relationship she’s avoided but now paid for—sexual.

When she arrives at the compound, it’s everything she expected and more. Not only is she impressed with the worlds her mother and father created but she is completely in awe of them. It doesn’t take long for Brogan, her escort, to lead her further into the life and lifestyles found there, and to introduce her to Phillip.

Phillip and Brogan, while hired to please and to teach a woman about her sexuality soon reveal their ulterior motives. Those motives are to seduce a powerful woman into a relationship full of pleasure and promise. If she fails to comply, there will be consequences but she quickly reminds them of the deadly shifts an angry woman can manage.

Excerpt:

“Come here; I want to show you something.”

She followed him down a small circular walkway and realized they were approaching the landing pad for the shuttle back to earth. There, he led her into a control center where the latest in technology and transportation monitoring systems were evident everywhere. On one wall, large screens displayed weather Doppler maps along with graphs and charts. She focused on the bay window.

Moving closer, she stared into the galaxy. “It’s magnificent, truly divine.” It took her breath away. The colonies always left her speechless, but seeing them so close now, so perfectly shaped and holding true to their pattern, was humbling at the very least.

Phillip joined her. Side by side they stood and looked out over the colonies. “Paisley, I know you’re just beginning to find out more about your company holdings, but Father tells me you’ve also been very active in the business from a young age. Did you ever stop to wonder what keeps each of these colonies floating in sync?”

“No. I didn’t.” Now, she wondered why it slipped her mind to ask questions or research the historical beginnings. In fact, watching the colonies float along behind them now, she questioned herself and thought about it more and more by the second. What kind of CEO ignores the foundation for which their company stands?

“It’s your mother’s web.” He seemed pleased to inform her.

“It’s what?”

“It’s the only thing strong enough to hold the satellite bases together. The colonies, thanks to your mother’s ingenious and original designs, are able to mobilize as one unit. No one ever notices it, and of course, it isn’t widely discussed because of the obvious. No one would believe it.”

“I’m having a hard time understanding the magnitude of it.” She walked to the glass and pressed her face up against it. “Already everything here is so beautiful and yet you want an expansion,” She paused and turned to him again. “You are after an expansion aren’t you?”

“On a massive level, yes, I’m interested in an expansion.”

“And the bases, those are readily available?”

“Absolutely—the infrastructure for several proposed colonies have been developed. What we need, as you may well understand, is a stronger cable and the capacity to strengthen the existing ties to the current colonies.”

“And you can’t do this on your own?”

“It will be more interesting with you.”

Guest author Felicity Heaton is here

Good morning everyone! Felicity Heaton is here to celebrate her newest release, Seventh Circle. She will also be giving away a copy of her Prophecy Trilogy to one lucky winner. All you have to do is leave a comment or question. The winner will be chosen by Felicity tomorrow November 18th, so that everyone can have a chance. Please give an email where you can be contacted at.

I was able to interview Felicity Heaton and she was gracious enough to answer them for me. See the next post for her answers. If you would like more information on her books or characters, see her web sites below.

My author interview with Felicity Heaton

1.Did you always know that you wanted to be an author or did you have another dream?
No, I didn’t always know that I was going to start writing. I come from a creative family, meaning we all have artistic genes, but I had never really considered writing until a school assignment saw me scribbling the opening chapter of a gothic horror story. When the assignment was over, I wrote a little more for the story, and then abandoned it. I was fourteen after all and teenage minds don’t have the best attention spans. I stayed with the art side of things though and trained in graphic design. My main dream when I was younger was to be either an archaeologist or an astronomer. I never followed through on those ones. I’m still interested in both, but I’m happy now I’m firmly walking a more creative path. Writing is now my obsession and my dream.

2.How long did you write until you were published?
I only started writing back in 2003, and that was fanfiction. An author friend of mine read my work and convinced me to take a shot at writing something original. I was more than a little skeptical at first, but it wasn’t long before I was published in ebooks. That was in 2005 and I haven’t really looked back. Has it been three years already?

3.You write under both Felicity Heaton and FE Heaton. Is there a different writing style for each?
At first it was just my Vampires Realm stories that were written under my F E Heaton name to keep them separate. Then, when I decided to write more stories in my Tri-Kingdom world, I wrote that under F E Heaton too (although my original Tri-Kingdom story is still under Felicity Heaton). I was going to use my F E Heaton name to write all my series, but decided that I would reserve it for long series, or ongoing series that were very world-based. The style is no different to my Felicity Heaton stories, although perhaps a little darker. I write my shorter series under Felicity Heaton as that’s the name I’m most well known for.

4.You write about shape shifters, vampires and science fiction, do you have a favorite? Or is it like trying to pick your favorite child?
It’s difficult, but it has to be vampires, or anything demon/witch. I love that side of the paranormal and it’s something that I have always been interested in since I was young. I used to watch Hammer House of Horror films all the time and grew up reading such classic authors as Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allen Poe and H P Lovecraft. Of course, my vampires, demons and witches have to be dark. I love to explore just how dark I can go with them, especially the vampires. I make no excuses for how brutal they can be because I want to write vampires that are more like they used to be before people humanized them. They’re merciless, seductive, strong and sexy, as well as vicious, deadly and dangerous. Perfect bad boy and alpha material.

I have enjoyed writing science fiction though. It’s something that I’ve only recently attempted for the first time but had always wanted to try. I like how I can make up everything when it comes to space and beyond. I’ve even managed to bring vampire-like species into my science fiction!

5.Did you pick this genre to write or did it pick you?
I think I’ve tried a fair chunk of the genres out there and I always come back to paranormal. I blame long school days spent day-dreaming about vampires and all those movies I watched and books that I read back then. Vampires, shape-shifters, demons and witches fascinate me. I don’t think I’ll ever escape them. In fact, my next few stories are all paranormal. There isn’t anything in the world that I would rather be writing.

6.I counted 6 series total, is that right? What are they?
Five series at the moment, but I do have another one coming out next year. If you can count it as a separate series. I wrote a science fiction series of four short stories this year entitled Sons of Lyra, and they proved so popular and I had so much fun writing them that I couldn’t resist writing a Daughters of Lyra series too, which will be available next summer.

The Sons of Lyra series is science fiction romance and all about the four sons of the Lyran royal family and the women who tamed their passionate hearts. These are men who don’t take no for an answer and who have a reputation for their good looks and the fact no woman has caught them. Of course, the women they come up against match their passion and capture their hearts. The Daughters of Lyra series follows the daughters of the original four sons. Of course, their children are just as feisty, headstrong and passionate as their fathers, so they get into all kinds of trouble. It takes a strong man to tame them!

Two of the first books I had published were The Merciless series, which is a historical pirate romance that follows a captain with a dark past and the woman he accidentally kidnaps, thinking that she’s someone else. She gives him hell and he finds himself falling for her, enough that he reveals his past to her and she falls for him in return, which leads them into a constant battle to be together.

The Tri-Kingdom series is an ongoing series which I only have two stories written for so far. It’s a dark fantasy world full of magic and everything fantastical—witches, faeries, vampires, shape-shifters, castles, gods, pirates and knights to name a few! I have around three more stories planned for it but apparently just not enough time to write them! I really enjoyed crafting the world and I think that once I’ve written the next two novels I have planned, I’ll return to it and write another for this series.

The In Heat stories are my top sellers. People really loved the story of Erik Blackwell, a black panther shape-shifter who has waited twenty seven years to find his mate. When he does track her down, it turns out that she’s his lawyer and although their deeply erotic dreams make her ache for him, she’s convinced that her plain Jane appearance is no match for a sexy millionaire like him. Of course, Erik will do anything to convince her and convince her he does.

Finally, there’s my Vampires Realm series and it doesn’t come better than this. It follows the seven pure bloodlines of Europe and all of the stories are intrinsically linked to their dark world. These are deadly, dangerous vampires but ones with societal structure and laws. They are sexy, violent, mysterious, powerful but still have weaknesses of emotion like humans. I’ve written five novels in this series so far. Three of those make up the Prophecy Trilogy. The fourth is Seventh Circle which came out on November 16th. The fifth is Winter’s Kiss and will be available in February 2009. You don’t have to read the novels in order. It’s only the world that connects them although there are a few cameos here and there by characters. I have also written the first in a series of short stories about one of the oldest vampires in the series, and a free novella. If this sounds like your kind of series, check it out at the website – http://www.vampiresrealm.com

7.When you sit down to write, is there a ritual you have to do before you start?
Yawn. Rub my eyes. Wake up. Normally the first bit of writing I do on week days is at around 6:55am on a train to work. Needless to say, I don’t have a ritual other than checking I’m awake enough. I always write during my lunch time and then on the journey home too. I basically write when I can. No ritual necessary. The muse sees to it that I’m always ready to write. Of course, coffee helps.

8.What is your favorite couple or character that you have written?
That’s such a difficult question! I love all my characters, especially the heroes and heroines. I even like some of the bad guys. I really don’t think I have an answer for this one but if I was forced to choose, I would have to go with the heroine and hero(es) in the Prophecy Trilogy. I love Prophecy (yes, that’s her name!) because over the course of the Trilogy we see her grow from a naïve young vampire into a strong, powerful and determined woman. She’s put through Hell and comes out the other side with her head held high. The hero of the story, Valentine, is her total opposite. He’s far older than her in vampire years, intelligent, skilled, loyal and calm under pressure. He’s a vampire who hunts vampire hunters and isn’t afraid of anything, until he meets Prophecy and his entire world is turned on its head. The other hero of the story is Venturi, who is kind of a sub-hero. He’s headstrong, passionate, impulsive and will do anything to get what he wants, which is mostly Prophecy.

9.What character is more like your personality?
I put a little piece of my personality into all my characters, but the two I would have to say are most like me are Prophecy from the Prophecy Trilogy, and Lincoln from Seventh Circle. Yes, it’s odd to have a woman say that a male character is most like her but he has a lot of my traits. There’s also a healthy dose of me in Lilith from Seventh Circle too.

10.Do you have anything new in the works? Inquiring minds want to know.
I always have things in the works. Right now I’m editing a short werewolf story, Embracing the Wolf, which will be out in December. I’m also editing Winter’s Kiss, the next Vampires Realm story, which will be out in February 2009. And I’m also editing my Daughters of Lyra series too! I’m editing a lot. On the writing front, I’m planning two new novels, both paranormal, which I’m writing with a view to sending off to agents and traditional publishing houses. And I’m planning another seven book series. As usual, I’m swamped.

11.Do you think it is easier to publish your own books or harder?
I think it really helps me learn about promoting my stories, writing effective summaries and creating eye-catching covers. And because I don’t have the benefit of a large team of editors, I have to pay closer attention to my stories to get them just right with the one editor I can afford. I’ve done e-published and self-published and I just prefer self-published as it does give me more control and I find I sell more books and the promotion is better. I think it all depends on your mind-set in the end. I don’t mind the work involved in formatting files, preparing promotion, sending books out for review, setting up advertising and chats and stuff like that. I really love being hands on with my work. It gives me a real sense of satisfaction and it’s wonderful when readers come back to me about my stories because I know I’ve put my heart and soul into it.

12.Do you have any tips for those aspiring authors out there?
Read as many books as you can. That’s my first tip. I’m still reading books on writing, as well as reading fiction in general. Every book that I read influences my writing in a positive way. You have to read to be able to write. My second tip is the old adage – get it written and then get it right. Don’t compulsively edit every chapter while writing your novel. Write the whole first draft without looking back (unless you’ve lost the plot and need a recap) and then sit down and do the second draft. It’s better to write it all and then fix it. Believe me, even if you spend forever editing each chapter as you go, you’ll still need to fix it all again afterwards when you read it through in one go.

13.When you have a moment to sit down and breathe, what kinds of books do you read?
I grew up reading gothic horror and classic romance novels. I still love to sit down and read my favourites – Jane Eyre, Persuasion and North & South. I also enjoy reading Terry Pratchett and wish that I could write funny stories. At the moment, I’m reading books about writing. Not very exciting, but I love finding new techniques for writing and editing.

I have added more books to Ebay

As you may know, I have been adding books to my Ebay account for the last few weeks. I am trying to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Network. I have asked friends and family to donate books that they have finished and post them on Ebay. Well today I recieved some Disney books. I just finished adding about 14 books. I will be adding more tomorrow or later in the week.

So far we have made $36.75. Not bad for a start but we can do better, right? Please stop by or tell you family and friends to come take a look.

My auction to help out Pancreatic Cancer is still going

There is still time to stop my EBay auction. The proceeds are going directly to help the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. I have an autographed book from Joy Nash that comes with bookmarks on there waiting for a good home. I have others that will be going up within the next few days. They range from historical to contemporary and even some paranormal. So come on over and check out the BOOKS BITE BACK: A FUNDRAISER TO FIGHT PANCREATIC CANCER

The 4th leading cause of cancer death is Pancreatic Cancer. The sad part is that only less than 2% of the National Cancer Institute’s federal research funding is for Pancreatic Cancer. That is too low for me and my family. We lost my grandma to Pancreatic Cancer is September of 2007. It is fast and is very painful. It was less than a year from the diagnosis to her passing. She had gone through so much in such a little time.

From the PanCan.org website:
Did you know that in 2008, an estimated 37,680 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 34,290 will die from the disease.

Men are 20% more likely to get pancreatic cancer than women and the majority of cases occur in people over the age of 65. The incidence rate among African-Americans is 40 to 50% higher than other ethnic groups. From a scientific research perspective, pancreatic cancer is where breast cancer was in the 1930s. Advancing pancreatic cancer research into the 21st century is dependent upon the increase of basic scientific research.

Ebay and Pancreatic Cancer

It is November and that means it is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month! Time to pull out the purple and show your support. My sweetie of a husband even wears the purple tie this month to work. I just recieved the okay to start posting books in my Ebay web site from PanCan (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network). All proceeds will be going to PanCan. This is the second year that I have done this and it means a great deal to me. I lost my grandma to Pancreatic Cancer in September of last year and this is my way making sure that more people are aware of this terrible disease.

What made me decide to start the Ebay auction last November? It was after calling tv stations, newspapers, radio and anything else I could think of, but no one knew about pancreatic cancer. Did they know that November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month? No. Did they care? No. The sad part was that none of them ever contacted me to say yes or no. No one! I became frustrated and after looking through the web site for PanCan and learning more information on my own, I decided to sale my books. One it made my husband happy that they were finding new homes but it also raised money as well. Last year I raised almost $200 on Ebaywith the sales of books from my own library and donations from friends and family. This year I have fewer donations so most of the books will be coming from me.

If you do decide to take a look and possibly bid on any, thank you! http://stores.ebay.com/Frog-Prince-Books-and-Cards I even named the even this year so we are official. lol

BOOKS BITE BACK: A FUNDRAISER TO FIGHT PANCREATIC CANCER

If you don't but want to donate either your time or money, visit the web site. http://pancan.org/ They also have a store where you can purchase car magnets, teddy bears, key chains, t-shirts, ties, jewlery anything else you can think of. A portion of the proceeds goes towards research. They also have links that donate a portion of buying flowers. So you can send flowers to that special someone and help PanCan at the same time.

Just please, send a link to this post to your friends and family so they pass on the word. More people need to know about Pancreatic Cancer because the more voices, the harder it is to ignore.

If you have a story of a loved one or if you are a survivor, leave a message here and share your story.
